Amikacin Analysis Service

Wholeheartedly Dedicated Service Related to Amikacin Analysis for Clients

CD BioGlyco offers a wide range of Pharmaceutical Services utilizing efficient and specialized early-stage research in conjunction with advanced, cutting-edge analytical technologies. Amikacin is a semi-synthetic aminoglycoside resistant to most aminoglycoside-modifying enzymes and is used for the research of a wide range of aerobic gram-negative bacteria and other aminoglycoside-resistant infections. We provide a high-quality amikacin analysis service to support our clients' studies on amikacin pharmacokinetics, antimicrobial activity, etc. With our rich experience in Pharmaceutical and Biological Analysis, we develop customized analytical protocols as per the client's requirements.

Currently reported analytical methods for amikacin determination include immunoassay, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), capillary electrophoresis, and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). We develop reproducible and rapid analytical methods for the determination of amikacin, including HPLC, thin layer chromatography (TLC), GC-MS, etc. The analytes for amikacin are listed below:

  • Characterization: Specific rotation and appearance
  • Sample identification: Identification of the sample by TLC
  • Determination of content: Detection of the content of amikacin in the sample by HPLC
  • Alkalinity: The pH value of the sample should be 9.5-11.5.
  • Related substances: Detection of impurities in the sample by HPLC
  • Kanamycin: Detection of kanamycin in the sample by TLC
  • Residual solvents: Detection of residual solvents (methanol, ethanol, acetone, and acetonitrile) in the sample by GC-MS.
  • Other analytical items: Loss on drying, scorch residue, bacterial endotoxin, clarity and color of solution, microbiological detection, etc.

Technology: TLC-flame ionization detection

Results: In this study, a TLC-flame ionization detection was developed for the rapid analysis of aminoglycosides such as amikacin. The method used paromomycin as an internal standard for quantification, and the separation of the target components can be achieved using a single solvent mixture development bar. The method proved to be fast, requiring no derivatization or laborious coloration, with good coefficients of determination for all target analytes.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why analyze amikacin by HPLC?
HPLC is an effective analytical technique for the separation and quantitative analysis of compounds, including aminoglycosides, etc. It has the advantages of high selectivity, high separation efficiency, high detection sensitivity, and high accuracy. HPLC has now become one of the most important and widely used analytical techniques in drug analysis, especially in multicomponent analysis and impurity control.
  • What factors affect the separation and analysis of amikacin by HPLC?
Many factors (including the chemical composition of the stationary phase, temperature, and composition of the mobile phase) affect the HPLC separation and analysis. Successful separation occurs only when the analyte has a differential affinity for the stationary phase. Therefore, the selection of a suitable stationary phase is crucial in the process of amikacin analysis. The main factors that affect the overall separation and analysis are:
    • Physicochemical properties of the stationary phase, such as viscosity, polarity, and charge
    • Physicochemical properties of the analyte, such as charge, size, volatility, etc.
    • Physicochemical properties of the mobile phase
    • Interaction of the mobile phase with the stationary phase and analytes
