CD BioGlyco is committed to providing a variety of chemical modification strategies to help clients prepare hyaluronic acid (HA)-based biodegradable materials without affecting the groups involved in biological interactions. Our flexible solutions allow customized high-quality HA derivatives to expand the biomedical applications of HA.

Biomedical Applications of HA

HA is a high molecular weight, non-sulfated anionic polysaccharide composed of N-acetyl-d-glucosamine (GlcNAc) and d-glucuronic acid (GlcA). HA is a multifunctional biomaterial that binds to cell-specific surface markers such as CD44 (often overexpressed on the surface of tumor cells). As one of the main components of the extracellular matrix that exists widely in the human body, HA acts as a signaling molecule for a variety of biological functions, such as leukocyte homing, cell adhesion, growth, and migration.

HA has been widely used in skin regeneration, tissue engineering, drug delivery, and molecular imaging due to its unique hydrodynamic properties, good viscoelasticity and strainability, biocompatibility, biodegradation, non-toxic, non-immunogenic, and non-inflammatory properties. With the expansion of the application scope of hyaluronic acid and the continuous emergence of new medical materials, the research on HA has increased in recent years. Ongoing research on HA and its various modifications testifies to its unarguable share in the advancement of the biomedical field.
