Heparin Calcium Analysis Service

Heparin Calcium Analysis Service

What We Do for Heparin Calcium Analysis?

CD BioGlyco has a team of highly qualified and skilled professionals to better serve and support Pharmaceutical and Biological Analysis. Heparin calcium is a mixture of sugar chains of different molecular weights, formed by alternating linkages of α-D-glucosamine and O-sulfated glucuronic acid, which have the effect of prolonging blood clotting. We provide a high-quality heparin calcium analysis service to meet the research needs of our clients on heparin calcium. We offer two types of analysis services: heparin calcium and heparin calcium injection.

  • Relevant technologies for Pharmaceutical Analysis
    • Atomic absorption spectrometer: It determines the content of Mg, Hg, Fe, Cr, Pb, Cd, As, Mn, Cu, and other metal elements.
    • Potentiometric titrator: It is mainly used for the determination of sample content, pH, redox potential, etc.
    • Automatic spinometer: It is used for the determination of specific rotation and optical rotation.
    • High-performance liquid chromatography: It is mainly used for the separation and identification of complex components, qualitative and quantitative analysis of target components, etc.
    • Gel permeation chromatography: It is used for the determination of relative molecular mass and molecular weight distribution of polymers.
  • Heparin calcium analytical program
    • Trait observation: We observe and test the appearance and specific rotation of the samples.
    • Molecular weight and molecular weight distribution: We detect the molecular weight and distribution of the sample by molecular exclusion chromatography.
    • Protein: Bovine serum albumin is used as the control to detect the protein content in the sample. The protein content should not exceed 0.5% according to the dry product.
    • Calcium: Calculated as a dry product, the calcium content of the sample should be 9.5%~11.5%.
    • Sodium: Calculated according to the dry product, the sodium content of the sample shall not exceed 0.15%.
    • Other tests: pH test, residual solvent (methanol, ethanol, and acetone) test, dermatan sulfate and other related substances, heavy metals, total nitrogen, clarity and color of the solution, nucleic acids, loss on drying and blazing residue, bacterial endotoxin, etc.

Technology: Weak anion-exchange high-performance liquid chromatography (WAX-HPLC)

Results: Heparin calcium may contain the impurity oversulfated chondroitin sulfate (OSCS). In this study, an identification test method for OSCS was developed with sufficient specificity, sensitivity, and reproducibility. The method uses a weak anion-exchange column to detect OSCS in heparin calcium and can separate OSCS from heparin and other impurities in a shorter time. This study provides an effective method for quality control of heparin calcium.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is heparin calcium?
Heparin calcium is the calcium salt of heparin and belongs to the glycosaminoglycan family. It is formed by alternating linkages of α-D-glucosamine and O-sulfated alduronic acid. It is mainly characterized by the presence of five sugar sequences in the polysaccharide chain. It interacts with antithrombin III (ATIII), which accelerates the rate at which the protein inhibits blood procoagulant factors.
  • What are the molecular weight and molecular weight distribution standards for heparin calcium?
The weight average molecular weight of heparin calcium should be 15,000-19,000. The ratio of the molecular weight fraction of 8,000-16,000 to the molecular weight fraction of 16,000-24,000 should not be less than 1.0. The molecular weight fraction of molecular weight greater than 24,000 should not be greater than 20%.

Applications

  • Heparin calcium analysis is used to study the anticoagulant effects of heparin calcium.
  • Heparin calcium analysis is used in development of new therapeutic approaches to diseases of the heart and blood vessels.
  • Heparin calcium analysis is used to examine the response of model animals to heparin calcium.
