Amikacin Sulfate Analysis Service

Amikacin Sulfate Analysis Service

Uncover the Power of Amikacin Sulfate Today

Amikacin sulfate is a semi-synthetic aminoglycoside that appears as a white or off-white crystalline powder. It has a good inhibitory effect on most bacteria. CD BioGlyco provides high-quality amikacin sulfate as well as amikacin sulfate injection analysis services with professional Pharmaceutical Analysis technology.

  • Identification
    • Chromatography: We compare the chromatogram of the sample to be tested with the chromatogram of the standard of amikacin sulfate. If the retention times of the main peaks in the two spectra are the same, it proves that the sample is amikacin sulfate.
    • Infrared spectrometry: Compare the infrared absorption spectrum of the sample to be tested with the infrared spectrum of the standard, if the positions and intensities of the peaks are the same, the sample is proved to be amikacin sulfate.

The identification of amikacin sulfate injection is consistent with that of amikacin sulfate.
  • Specific rotation
After dissolving the sample of amikacin sulfate with water, we measure its specific rotation using a spinometer. The specific rotation of amikacin sulfate ranges from 76° to +84°.
  • pH
We dissolve amikacin sulfate in water and measure its pH using a pH meter. The pH of amikacin sulfate should be 6.0 to 7.5. The pH of amikacin sulfate injection is 3.5 to 5.5.
  • Amikacin sulfate content
Amikacin sulfate content is analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) using phosphate buffer, water, and acetonitrile as mobile phases.
  • Amikacin sulfate
We will accurately weigh amikacin sulfate and dissolve the sample completely in water. This is followed by titration using a barium chloride solution. Besides, phenolphthalein solution is used as an indicator solution in the titration experiment. Finally, the amount of sulfate is calculated from the amount of titrant solution.
  • Loss on drying
We will dry amikacin sulfate under reduced pressure at 110°C using phosphorus pentoxide as a desiccant.

Results: The authors developed and analyzed a dextran sodium sulfate nanoparticle (LADNP) containing amikacin sulfate. Among them, the nanoparticles in the colloidal solution of LADNP showed a conductivity of 2.36 mS/cm. DSC showed that LADNP had a significant heat absorption peak at a temperature of 165.77°C. The TGA results indicated the weight loss of LADNP, i.e., 95% observed at 210.78°C. The TGA results indicated that the nanoparticles had a weight loss of 2.36 mS/cm. In addition, XRD research of LADNP indicated that it showed distinct peaks at 2θ of 9.6°, 10.4°, 11.4°, 18.9°, 20.3°, 24.4°, 28.2°, 33.2°, 38.9°, and 40.4°, confirming the crystal structure.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the function or use of amikacin sulfate?
Amikacin sulfate is a semi-synthetic aminoglycoside antibiotic, with an antibacterial spectrum similar to gentamicin, and is effective against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli and Aspergillus, etc. It is also effective against other aminoglycoside-resistant strains. Amikacin sulfate is also effective against other aminoglycoside antibiotic-resistant strains. It is mainly used for pyelonephritis, urinary tract infections, respiratory tract, and lung infections, sepsis, etc. caused by sensitive bacteria.
  • Is amikacin sulfate stable against aminoglycoside purifying enzymes?
Amikacin sulfate is stable to most aminoglycoside purifying enzymes and is therefore indicated for the management of kanamycin, gentamicin, or tobramycin-resistant strains of gram-negative bacilli, especially infections caused by bacteria such as Serratia marcescens, Serratia mucilaginosa, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. In addition, amikacin sulfate is widely used clinically for its inhibitory effect on severe hospital-acquired infections with multi-drug resistant gram-negative bacteria, but close monitoring of blood levels and renal function is required during its use.
