Meglumine Analysis Service

Client Satisfaction with Meglumine Analysis ls Our Pursuit

Meglumine, also known as 1-anhydro-D-fructosamine, is an amino alcohol sugar commonly employed in medicine and pharmacy as a delivery medium or imaging agent. It possesses the ability to enhance solubility and improve the availability of certain drugs or chemicals when combined with them within the body. For instance, meglumine finds application in the formulation of X-ray contrast agents like iobenguane. Therefore, it is crucial to conduct precise Pharmaceutical Analysis of meglumine, as this directly impacts drug quality control, efficacy evaluation, and clinical safety. CD BioGlyco has effectively analyzed a diverse range of intricate pharmaceutical compounds, encompassing Magnesium Gluconate Analysis Service, Manganese Gluconate Analysis Service, and meglumine analysis service. Our meglumine analysis services include but are not limited to:

  • We structurally analyzed meglumine using techniques such as nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) to determine its chemical structure and molecular configuration.
  • High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography (GC), and other chromatographic techniques are employed to conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses of meglumine content, purity, and associated impurities.
  • Besides, we will conduct comprehensive testing and evaluation on the physical properties of meglumine, including the determination of solubility through gravimetry as well as the measurement of melting point and enthalpy of melting using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).
  • We provide clients with the meglumine bioactivity and biosafety assessment service through biochemical assays, including cytotoxicity testing and biocompatibility testing.

Results: This article investigated the use of HPLC for the determination of meglumine by-products that could be present in the meglumine samples in pharmaceutical formulations. The researchers tried four different approaches to develop an HPLC method, including HPLC analysis of metamidoguanidine before derivatization, the use of ion-pair reagents in the mobile phase, the use of a charged surface-hybridized stationary phase, and the use of a column used for the separation of carbohydrates. The results showed that the method using anion-pair reagents in the mobile phase was suitable for the quantitative determination of metamidoguanidine in solid dosage forms. The HPLC separation was performed on an Agilent Eclipse XDB-C18 column using a mobile phase containing octane-1-sulfonic acid. The method was validated and the validation included studies of selectivity, precision (reproducibility), linearity, and accuracy. RID and DAD detectors were used in the validation experiments.
