Kanamycin Sulfate Analysis Service

Kanamycin Sulfate Analysis Service

Unlocking the Power of Precise Kanamycin Sulfate Analysis

Kanamycin sulfate is a white or off-white powdered aminoglycoside that is effective against most bacteria. In the pharmaceutical field, kanamycin sulfate is often used as an anti-infective agent in the form of injections or eye drops. At CD BioGlyco, we have first-class Pharmaceutical and Biological Analysis technology and accumulated profound experience in Pharmaceutical Analysis to provide high-quality kanamycin sulfate analysis services to our clients.

  • Identification
    • The sample to be tested is completely dissolved in a sulfuric acid solution of anthrone and heated. A blue-purple color proves that the sample is kanamycin sulfate.
    • We determine the sample and the standard of kanamycin sulfate using infrared spectroscopy. The spectra obtained are then compared, and if the positions and sizes of the peaks on the two spectra were the same, the sample was proved to be kanamycin sulfate.
  • pH
We dissolve kanamycin sulfate in water and test the pH. The pH of kanamycin sulfate should be 6.0-8.0.
  • Sulfate assay
Disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetate solution is used as a titrant to analyze the amount of sulfate in kanamycin sulfate by titration.
  • Loss on drying
We place the kanamycin sulfate at a high temperature to dry and its weight loss on drying will be calculated.
  • Quantitative analysis
    • Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis): UV-Vis can be used to determine the content of kanamycin sulfate. Kanamycin sulfate has a maximum absorption peak in the range of 200-400 nm, which can be analyzed by using the linear relationship between the intensity of its absorption peak and its concentration.
    • High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC): The content of the sample is calculated by determining the ratio of the peak area or peak height of kanamycin sulfate to that of a standard of known concentration.
  • Bacterial endotoxin
    • Gel method: Limit or semi-quantitative detection of endotoxin through the principle of horseshoe crab reagent agglutination reaction with endotoxin.
    • Photometric method: The endotoxin content is determined by detecting the change in turbidity and the amount of chromophore released during the reaction of horseshoe crab reagent with endotoxin.

Additionally, kanamycin sulfate injection and kanamycin sulfate eye drops are two common forms of kanamycin sulfate, both of which are clear, colorless to pale yellow or pale yellowish green liquids. At CD BioGlyco, we analyze them using the kanamycin sulfate analysis method. It is important to note that kanamycin sulfate injection and kanamycin sulfate eye drops have a different pH than kanamycin sulfate, with kanamycin sulfate injection having a pH of 4.5-7.5 and kanamycin sulfate eye drops having a pH of 6.0-7.0.

Publication Data

Technology: One-step hydrothermal method, Scanning electron microscope technique (SEM)

Journal: Analyst

IF: 4.2

Published: 2021

Results: In this research, the authors utilized kanamycin sulfate as a substrate and synthesized novel carbon dots (CDs-kanamycin sulfate) by a one-step hydrothermal method. SEM revealed that the morphology of Staphylococcus aureus cells treated with CDs-kanamycin sulfate and kanamycin sulfate became smaller and irregular, while surface cells of Escherichia coli protruded and formed vesicles. These results indicated that CDs-kanamycin sulfate was shown to retain kanamycin sulfate and its major bactericidal functional groups with good antimicrobial activity. The authors also found that CDs-kanamycin sulfate has good biocompatibility and non-toxic properties. In addition, CDs-kanamycin sulfate has been successfully applied to biological imaging of fungi and plant cells.
