Omega-3 Fatty Acid Analysis

Omega-3 Fatty Acid Analysis

Omega-3 fat is an essential substance for human to maintain health. The analysis of omega-3 fatty acids helps people better understand the nutrition in food. CD BioGlyco has developed an efficient, fast, and economical omega-3 analysis method.

What Is Omega-3 Fatty Acid?

Omega-3 fatty acids (ω-3 fatty acids) are a type of unsaturated fatty acids (UFAs). Counting from the carbon atom of the methyl end (ω end) farthest from the carboxyl group in the fatty acids (FAs) molecule, there is a double bond between the third and fourth carbon atoms from the bottom, which is called omega-3 fatty acids. Common omega-3 fatty acids include alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Omega-3 fatty acids are supplied by food and are not synthesized in the human body. In food, they are the most abundant in marine organisms.

Omega-3 fatty acids are an important component of the immune system, endocrine system, and nervous system, and play an important role in the synthesis of neurotransmitters in the nervous system. It has significant effects on tumors, endocrine system diseases, digestive system diseases, and autoimmune diseases such as Parkinson's disease, psychosis, depression, etc. In addition, it is also obvious in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The role of omega-3 in the prevention and treatment of human diseases: 1) Maintain the homeostasis of the human body; 2) Regulate enteral and parenteral nutrition; 3) Anti-tumor effect; 4) Anti-cardiovascular diseases.
