Isoform Analysis

The structural analysis methods of glycans have been lagging behind nucleic acids, proteins, and lipids, which limits the development of disciplines related to glycochemistry. CD BioGlyco has advanced experimental instruments to analyze and identify the structure of carbohydrates. We look forward to being your indispensable research assistant in the field of glycobiology.

Background

Due to the obvious diversity of glycans structure and expression in nature, there are still many difficulties in the analysis of glycans structure, and little is known about the details of this diversity. The difficulty of glycan analysis lies not only in its variety but also in its complex structure. In fact, many naturally occurring glycans of prokaryotes and eukaryotes have few similarities, and organisms in each category also have obvious diversity in glycans.

The technology of mass spectrometry is considered to be an important and indispensable means in various methods of structural analysis of polysaccharides. Fast atom bombardment, matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization, electrospray ionization, tandem mass spectrometry, and other mass spectrometry technology have been successfully applied to the structural analysis of polysaccharides. The structure of glycans is closely related to their functions, and the research on the structure of glycans directly affects the development of glycopharmacology. Therefore, the structure analysis of glycans is of great significance.
