Trifolium repens Lectin Production Service

Trifolium repens Lectin Production Service

Trifolium repens lectin (RTA), a glycoprotein lectin isolated from the legume white clover. RTA has a carbohydrate binding site anchored to the plant cell wall, and its binding site is located on the surface of RTA wrapping cells. CD BioGlyco provides clients with a comprehensive extraction, separation, and analysis for RTA to accelerate your research progress.

RTA Extraction and Purification Service at CD BioGlyco

Our company pays extra attention to the quality of products, and every step is strictly controlled. For lectins from different parts of clover, we offer two kinds of extraction and purification services.

  • RTA from seeds

Select white clover seeds with full grains and remove surface dust. Then, We grind and sieve the seeds. The powdered samples are dissolved in organic reagents for extraction and degreasing. The samples are carefully filtered and collected. Subsequent steps are all performed at 4°C. The collected samples are soaked in the buffer for extraction, and the supernatant is collected by centrifugation. After gel column purification of the appropriate size, the eluted fractions are collected and dialyzed in buffer overnight. The dialyzed fraction is then eluted with Tris buffer in a cellulose column, and the absorbance is measured in real-time. Afterward, the components are collected. Finally, the DEAE column is used for the purification, the target components are collected in the state tested.

  • RTA from seedling roots

Notably, we use a buffer containing 2-deoxyglucose to elute proteins from seedling roots. For the collected components, buffer dialysis to remove impurities. The remaining steps are as described above.

RTA Analysis Service at CD BioGlyco

For the purified lectins, it is essential to conduct a series of analysis and research on it. Combined with the glycobiology platform, we provide RTA structure characterization, agglutination activity screening, protein content analysis, stability analysis, and hemagglutination analysis services. All data reports and raw plots will be sent to your email address.

Applications of RTA

  • RTA is a cell recognition molecule that selectively interacts with carbohydrate receptors on the root hair of nitrogen-fixing rhizobia and root hairs of host plants.
  • RTA is a host-encoded determinant with an important role in developing this nitrogen-fixing symbiosis recognized by rhizobium cells.
  • RTA is involved in the specific recognition of compatible reproductive and nutritional structures and the invasion of plant tissues by plant pathogens and rhizobia.
