Homoharringtonine, a plant alkaloid with antitumor properties, inhibits protein translation by preventing the initial elongation step of protein synthesis via an interaction with the ribosomal A-site. Homoharringtonine reversibly inhibits IL-6-induced STAT3 Tyrosine 705 phosphorylation and reduced anti-apoptotic proteins expression.
