Description

This high-purity synthetic model formulation features 1-stearoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine and cholesterol liposomes (18:0-18:1 PC:Chol (70:30) liposomes) prepared at a precise molecular ratio. The vesicular matrix self-assembles from exactly 70 mol% of the asymmetric phospholipid 1-stearoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (18:0-18:1 PC) and 30 mol% of high-purity cholesterol (Chol). The inclusion of one fully saturated C18 stearoyl chain and one monounsaturated C18 oleoyl chain establishes a highly regulated liquid-crystalline packing density and a specific main phase transition temperature, presenting a uniform baseline for structural membrane analysis.
