Description
This alginate / drug-loaded nanoparticle / polycation complex (Alginate / drug-loaded nanoparticle / polycation complex) features a multi-layered macromolecular assembly built from alternating ionic layers. The internal composition incorporates an anionic natural alginate polysaccharide network complexed with a cationic polymer partner to entrap drug-loaded nanoparticles within the junction zones. It forms a highly crosslinked, ionically gelled structure whose swelling and mesh size are heavily regulated by external calcium and sodium concentrations.
