Description

This specialized formulation features amlodipine besylate flexible nanoliposomes engineered with enhanced membrane elasticity to encapsulate a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. The structural matrix incorporates the active compound amlodipine besylate within the aqueous core and polar interfacial headgroup domains of a sub-micron phospholipid bilayer containing an optimized concentration of a membrane-softening edge activator (such as polysorbate 80). The integration of the edge activator destabilizes the lipid bilayer packing just enough to drastically lower the membrane bending energy without causing vesicle lysis, allowing the nanoliposomes to undergo extreme structural deformation under mechanical stress.
