Description

This specialized biophysical formulation features short-chain ceramide modified liposomes. The vesicular matrix self-assembles from high-purity phospholipids blended with a precise molecular fraction of the synthetic short-chain sphingolipid N-hexanoyl-D-erythro-sphingosine (C6 ceramide). The integration of this short-chain ceramide into the bilayer alters the natural lateral lipid packing constraints, introduces localized gel-phase domains, and dramatically increases passive membrane permeability by promoting transient packing defects without containing active drug cargo.
