Cap-0 is a N7-methyl guanosine that is linked to the 5′ nucleotide through a 5′ to 5′ triphosphate linkage. It is also known as m7G cap or m7Gppp- in literature. The Cap-0 structure is required in the cell for effective translation of the cap-containing mRNA.
