Description

This formulation consists of carboxyfluorescein liposomes (CF LPs) designed as a high-sensitivity analytical marker system. The vesicular structure encapsulates a self-quenching concentration of the water-soluble fluorescent dye carboxyfluorescein inside the central aqueous core. The surrounding lipid bilayer is highly responsive to external chemical or physical stimuli that induce membrane disruption. Upon vesicle lysis, the encapsulated dye dilutes into the surrounding medium and exhibits a measurable increase in fluorescence intensity.
