Description

This product consists of carmustine proliposomes formulated as a solid-state dry powder precursor matrix to stabilize a highly volatile and moisture-sensitive nitrosourea compound. The structure is composed of microcrystalline carbohydrate carriers that support a uniform layer of dehydrated lipids and carmustine. This dry configuration completely eliminates the rapid chemical hydrolysis and thermal decomposition of the nitrosourea structure that occurs instantaneously in aqueous media. Upon exposure to a cold aqueous buffer, the solid matrix dissolves immediately, allowing the lipid components to spontaneously self-assemble into small liposomal vesicles enclosing the drug.
