Description

This advanced composite formulation features chitosan-coated insulin liposomes engineered with a polycationic surface matrix to protect a protein hormone. The structural framework consists of a high-purity phospholipid vesicle core encapsulating the macromolecular protein insulin within its aqueous reservoir, whose exterior boundary is completely enveloped by an electrostatically bound outer layer of the natural polysaccharide polymer chitosan. The amine groups of the chitosan coating introduce a highly positive surface charge profile and establish a dense hydrophilic steric layer around the lipid headgroups, which increases membrane thickness and shields the internal protein chains from premature chemical hydrolysis.
