Chitosan-mesoporous SiO2 drug-loaded nanoparticles (CS-MSNs) are silica-based carriers where the mesopores are filled with a specific molecular cargo and the exterior is coated with chitosan. The chitosan coating provides a mechanism to control the release rate of the loaded guest molecule.
