Description

This highly engineered multi-cargo system features costunolide and dehydrocostus lactone co-encapsulated polyethylene glycol modified long-circulating liposomes [Costunolide (Cos) and dehydrocostus lactone (DL) co-encapsulated PEGylated long-circulating liposomes]. The complex structural framework consists of a stable phospholipid bilayer shell that accommodates both hydrophobic sesquiterpene lactones, costunolide (Cos) and dehydrocostus lactone (DL), directly within its interior lipophilic tail domain, while the outer surface is modified with covalently attached polyethylene glycol (PEG) chains. This configuration introduces a dense hydrophilic steric shield that completely prevents physical vesicle aggregation, limits competitive sesquiterpene crystallization, and protects both natural compounds from rapid degradation in open aqueous media.
