Properties
Description
These dextran-poly(acrylic acid) nanoparticles consist of a hybrid polymer network composed of a natural non-ionic branched polysaccharide and a synthetic polyanionic hydrogel. The interpenetrating or graft structure creates a dense macromolecular grid that is highly sensitive to variations in external pH and ionic strength. It undergoes a reversible swelling-to-shrinking conformational shift driven by the protonation state of the carboxylic acid functional clusters.
