Description

This formulation features distearoylphosphatidylethanolamine-polyethylene glycol modified emodin liposomes (DSPE-Emo LPs) utilizing a sterically stabilized framework. The structural matrix incorporates the hydrophobic anthraquinone derivative emodin directly into the hydrocarbon core of a phospholipid bilayer, while the outer surface is integrated with distearoylphosphatidylethanolamine-polyethylene glycol (DSPE-PEG) polymer-lipid conjugates. The integration of these specialized polymer-lipid conjugates modifies membrane curvature and introduces a dense hydrophilic steric shield on the outer boundary. This configuration prevents physical vesicle aggregation and controls the passive crystallization of the anthraquinone cargo in open aqueous suspension.
