Description

This high-purity synthetic model formulation features 1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine blank liposomes modified with a precise molecular fraction of sterols (DOPC phospholipid-modified cholesterol liposomes). The vesicular matrix self-assembles from a detailed molecular blend of the highly fluid monounsaturated lipid 1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DOPC) and high-purity cholesterol without containing active drug cargo. The integration of sterol molecules into the highly fluid, cis-kinked C18 oleoyl bilayer core restricts hydrocarbon tail mobility, creating localized liquid-ordered domains and modulating passive membrane permeability without inducing crystallographic phase separation.
