Description

This specialized smart formulation features dioleoylphosphatidylethanolamine, cholesterol, and oleic acid acid-sensitive liposomes (DOPE/CHOL/OA (4:4:3) acid-sensitive liposomes). The structural matrix is engineered from a precise molar ratio (4:4:3) of the inverted-cone lipid dioleoylphosphatidylethanolamine (DOPE), cholesterol (CHOL), and the single-chain amphiphile oleic acid (OA). Under neutral conditions, the ionized oleic acid stabilizes the DOPE components into a stable bilayer framework; however, exposure to mildly acidic buffers protonates the carboxylate headgroups of the oleic acid, triggering an immediate transformation into an inverted hexagonal (HII) phase that rapidly destabilizes the vesicle structure.
