Description

This highly engineered multi-cargo system features doxorubicin hydrochloride and silibinin co-loaded distearoylphosphatidylethanolamine-polyethylene glycol-cholic acid modified liposomes (CA-LP-DOX/silybin). The complex structural framework consists of a stable phospholipid liposome (LP) bilayer shell modified with distearoylphosphatidylethanolamine-polyethylene glycol-cholic acid (DSPE-PEG-CA) conjugates that accommodates the hydrophobic flavonolignan silibinin within its interior lipophilic tail domain and hydrophilic doxorubicin hydrochloride (DOX) within the central aqueous compartment via an ion gradient. This configuration introduces a distinct cholic acid (CA) surface topography paired with a dense hydrophilic shield, completely preventing physical vesicle aggregation, limiting silibinin crystallization, and protecting both compounds from premature degradation in open aqueous media.
