Description

This solid-core polymeric formulation features doxorubicin loaded poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) micro-scale drug spheres (Doxorubicin-loaded PLGA nanodrug microspheres). The microfluidic architecture consists of a solid, crystalline hydrophobic polymer matrix composed of high-purity poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) that incorporates the water-soluble hydrochloride salt form of the anthracycline doxorubicin uniformly throughout its solid matrix via a double-emulsion template. This rigid solid-core configuration completely immobilizes the anthracycline within the crystalline polymer lattice, preventing rapid cargo leakage and shielding the active core from premature chemical oxidation in open laboratory media.
