Description

This formulation features beta-elemene sterically stabilized liposomes utilizing a pegylated polymer shield framework. The structural matrix incorporates the hydrophobic sesquiterpene hydrocarbon beta-elemene directly into the hydrocarbon core of a phospholipid bilayer, while the outer surface is integrated with polyethylene glycol polymer-lipid conjugates. The integration of these specialized polymer-lipid conjugates modifies membrane curvature and introduces a dense hydrophilic steric shield on the outer boundary. This configuration prevents physical vesicle aggregation and controls the passive volatilization or phase separation of the active terpene cargo in open aqueous suspension.
