Description
These hybrid nanoparticles consist of a gold core and a silica shell, with fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) molecules covalently embedded within the silica matrix. The silica shell prevents the gold core from quenching the fluorescence of the FITC, resulting in a highly bright and stable optical probe. The core-shell structure also allows for the combined study of plasmonic effects and fluorescence in a single nanounit.
