Properties
Description
This bio-inorganic material features ultra-small silver nanoclusters containing a limited number of core atoms, structurally encapsulated and stabilized within a monolayer of the tripeptide glutathione (GSH). The GSH molecules link covalently to the silver via high-affinity thiol-metal bonds, strictly restricting cluster expansion and yielding quantum confinement effects characterized by distinct molecular-like electronic transitions. This structure displays intense fluorescence quantum yields and exposes carboxyl and amino functional coordinates.
