Description

This highly advanced material features gold nanosphere shell-coated betulinic acid nanoliposomes engineered with an inorganic-organic hybrid shell architecture. The internal structure incorporates the hydrophobic pentacyclic triterpenoid betulinic acid within the hydrocarbon tail core of a sub-micron phospholipid vesicle core, whose exterior surface is completely enveloped by a self-assembled, porous shell layer of metallic gold nanospheres. This advanced design coordinates the narrow near-infrared plasmonic optical resonance tracking parameters of a gold shell with the biological interface, lower surface energy, and triterpenoid loading capacity of a nanoliposome core, preventing physical metal aggregation.
