Description

This formulation features irinotecan liposomes engineered with a highly stable active loading gradient. The vesicular anatomy features a high-purity phospholipid-cholesterol bilayer shell encapsulating the camptothecin derivative irinotecan hydrochloride entirely within its central aqueous reservoir, utilizing an internal transmembrane ammonium sulfate or sucrose octasulfate chemical gradient to trap the drug in its active lactone ring conformation. This remote-loading configuration completely isolates the water-soluble cargo within the core, preventing passive membrane leakage and shielding the lactone ring from rapid chemical hydrolysis into the inactive carboxylate form under ambient laboratory indices.
