Description

This formulation provides irinotecan long-circulating nanoliposomes utilizing an advanced transmembrane ion gradient loading strategy. The internal vesicular structure features an acidic aqueous core where irinotecan is precipitated as a stable salt complex, resulting in exceptionally high encapsulation efficiency. The surrounding lipid bilayer is modified with methoxy-polyethylene glycol conjugated lipids to form a protective hydrophilic surface layer. This steric barrier prevents physical aggregation and reduces passive drug leakage across the membrane.
