Description

L-GlcA is the L-enantiomer of glucuronic acid. It is a hexuronic acid where the C-6 position of the L-glucose ring is oxidized to a carboxylic acid. While D-glucuronic acid is ubiquitous in animals, the L-configuration is extremely rare and typically only found in specialized bacterial or synthetic carbohydrates.
