This highly advanced core-shell hybrid material features liposome-encapsulated zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 matrices. The internal non-vesicular architecture features a porous crystalline zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) zinc-organic coordination matrix core, completely enveloped within a stabilizing outer phospholipid vesicle shell. This hybrid configuration coordinates the rigid structural backbone and porous network of a crystalline zinc coordination matrix with the flexible fluid dynamics of a lipid envelope, preventing zinc ion dissociation while establishing a stable barrier that prevents physical particle aggregation.
