Description

This highly advanced material features liposome-enveloped gold-silver alloy nanocomposites (liposome@gold-silver alloy nanocomposites) designed with an inorganic-organic hybrid shell architecture. The internal structure encapsulates pre-formed bimetallic gold-silver alloy nanoparticles within the aqueous compartments and interfacial domains of a high-purity phospholipid bilayer matrix. This complex configuration combines the localized surface plasmon resonance properties of gold-silver alloys with the mechanical stability and biomimetic surface properties of a lipid vesicle. The surrounding lipid shell prevents metallic core aggregation and gravitational sedimentation in laboratory test buffers.
