This innovative enzymatic conjugate combines the antimicrobial enzyme lysozyme, which hydrolyzes peptidoglycans in bacterial cell walls, with the biodegradable polymer poly(lactic acid) (PLA) through a hydrophilic polyethylene glycol (PEG) spacer, offering a high-purity platform for targeted antibacterial therapies or the development of enzyme-releasing biomaterials with controlled degradation kinetics.
