• MPL production service

MPL is a tetrameric lectin found in seeds. Unlike most members of the lectin family, it lacks metal ions and Cys residues. Based on its sugar-binding specificity, MPL has a promising application as a research tool. To fulfill the needs of our clients for the production of a wide range of plant lectins, we offer MPL production services. We use M. pomifera seeds as material for lectin extraction. The crude extract is obtained from the seeds by salt extraction. Afterward, we use Gel-filtration Chromatography to further purify the M. pomifera lectin.

After isolation and purification, it is necessary to test the physical and chemical properties of the products obtained. MPL has a molecular weight of 40,000-46,000 and consists of four subunits. It is specific for glycosides of GalNAc and Gal(β1-3)GalNAc. We develop a detailed testing program according to client requirements. Molecular weight, hemagglutination activity, amino acid sequence, carbohydrate specificity, etc., are tested.
