Description

This specialized formulation features methotrexate flexible nanoliposomes engineered with enhanced membrane elasticity to encapsulate a hydrophilic antifolate drug. The structural matrix incorporates the active compound methotrexate within its central aqueous reservoir, while the sub-micron phospholipid bilayer incorporates an optimized concentration of a membrane-softening edge activator (such as sodium cholate). The integration of the edge activator destabilizes the lipid bilayer packing just enough to drastically lower the membrane bending energy without causing vesicle lysis, allowing the nanoliposomes to undergo extreme structural deformation under mechanical stress.
