This material is a nanocomposite consisting of nickel nanoparticles encapsulated or supported by hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) layers. The h-BN provides a thermally stable and chemically inert barrier that protects the nickel core from oxidation and sintering at high temperatures. This structure is designed to explore synergistic effects between magnetic metals and wide-bandgap 2d insulators.
