Description

This solid-core polymeric formulation features paclitaxel loaded carboxylic acid-terminated poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) nanoparticles (Paclitaxel-encapsulated PLGA-COOH nanoparticles). The sub-micron architecture consists of a rigid, self-assembled solid matrix of carboxylic acid-terminated poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA-COOH) that encapsulates the highly hydrophobic diterpenoid paclitaxel uniformly throughout its solid matrix. This rigid solid-core configuration completely immobilizes the diterpenoid within the solid polymer matrix, while the exposed terminal carboxylic acid groups establish a highly uniform negative surface charge topography and strong electrostatic repulsive forces, completely preventing physical particle aggregation.
