Description

This formulation represents paclitaxel stealth liposomes designed to stabilize and solubilize a highly hydrophobic taxane diterpenoid compound within a sterically stabilized framework. The structural framework consists of a phosphatidylcholine lipid bilayer modified with polyethylene glycol conjugated lipids that accommodates the active paclitaxel molecule directly within its interior lipophilic hydrocarbon core. This configuration introduces a dense hydrophilic steric layer on the outer boundary that prevents physical vesicle aggregation and controls the passive crystallization of the taxane chains in open aqueous suspension. The resulting vesicles exhibit high colloidal stability and a narrow sub-micron size distribution profile.
