Description
These PEG-PLGA nanoparticles are formulated from a synthetic block copolymer consisting of hydrophilic poly(ethylene glycol) and hydrophobic poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) segments. The architecture spontaneously structures into core-shell particles in water, with a rigid polyester inner matrix surrounded by a highly hydrated ethylene oxide corona. It displays a highly reduced rate of non-specific macromolecular adsorption owing to the distinct steric barrier properties of the outer PEG layer.
