Gamma-polyglutamic acid/chitosan/silver-nanoparticle (gamma-PGA/CS/Ag-nanoparticle) composite hydrogels are multi-functional hybrid materials. The composition involves an polyelectrolyte complex of anionic gamma-PGA and cationic chitosan, with embedded silver nanoparticles. The structure provides inherent antimicrobial properties and is used to investigate the release kinetics of metal particles in experimental research.
