This material features a hollow mesoporous silica nanoparticle (HMSN) core coated with a photosensitive copolymer. The hollow interior provides a massive storage volume, while the mesoporous shell is "gated" by the polymer layer, which undergoes structural or chemical changes upon exposure to specific light wavelengths. This architecture allows for the precise, light-triggered release of encapsulated industrial additives or chemical tracers.
