Description

This highly advanced core-shell hybrid material features liposome-encapsulated poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) nanoparticles loaded with paclitaxel. The internal non-vesicular architecture features solid poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) sub-micron spheres encapsulating the highly hydrophobic diterpenoid paclitaxel (PTX), completely enveloped within a stabilizing outer phospholipid bilayer shell. This hybrid configuration coordinates the micro-encapsulation barrier of a lipid envelope with the macro-scale physical mass transfer resistance of a solid polymer matrix, completely preventing taxane crystallization while establishing a stable barrier that prevents physical particle aggregation.
