Poly(n-vinyl pyrrolidone-co-beta-hydroxypropyl acrylate)/poly(acrylic acid) (P(NVP-co-β-HPA)/PAA IPN hydrogels are interpenetrating polymer networks with high water-absorbing capacity. The composition features two independent polymer systems that are physically entangled at the molecular level. The structure is highly responsive to ph changes and exhibits improved mechanical toughness compared to its individual components.
