This advanced composite material features resveratrol-loaded folate and polyethylene glycol co-modified liposome-encapsulated mesoporous carbon nanotubes (FA-PEG-LPs@MCN/Res). The complex internal structure consists of highly rigid mesoporous carbon nanotubes (MCN) that adsorb the hydrophobic polyphenolic stilbenoid resveratrol (Res) within their porous matrix, which are completely encapsulated within a robust phospholipid vesicle shell whose exterior boundary is functionalized with folate (FA) ligands linked via polyethylene glycol (PEG) anchors. This design combines the distinct structural matrix and high loading surface area of carbon nanomaterials with the biomimetic surface properties and interfacial stability of a targeted lipid bilayer shell. The surrounding lipid framework completely prevents carbon nanotube aggregation and gravitational sedimentation in laboratory test setups.
