Salvia sclarea Lectin Production Service

Salvia sclarea Lectin Production Service

Salvia sclarea Lectin (SSA) Production Service at CD BioGlyco

SSA is a lectin isolated from S. sclarea seeds. Researchers have examined it and found it to be an acidic dimeric glycoprotein (60-61 kDa). It consists of identical subunits on the surface. These two subunits are connected by a disulfide bond. CD BioGlyco is a company that Produces Lectins for antiviral, antibacterial, and anthelmintic research, etc. We have an extensive line of Plant Lectins. As far as SSA production is concerned, the total steps are divided into 2 steps. The first step is to increase the concentration of lectin in the crude extract from raw material. The second is the need for efficient purification protocols.

SSA Production Method

  • Extraction

We have a wealth of lectin extraction technologies, both traditional and emerging. Traditional precipitate techniques include acids (acetic acid), salt (ammonium sulfate), and organic solvents (liquid-liquid extraction). We also tap into a lot of novel technologies, such as ultrasound-assisted extraction, enzyme-assisted extraction, subcritical water extraction, microwave-assisted extraction, and others.

  • Purification

We have a variety of purification methods to choose from. Ion Exchange Chromatography, fast protein liquid chromatography, Affinity Chromatography, and others are all very skillful. We primarily use affinity chromatography to purify SSA. We expand SSA production following client requirements.

Structure Characterization

  • Electrospray-ionization tandem mass spectrometry (ESI-MS): To determine the carbohydrate composition.
  • Size-exclusion chromatography and mass spectrometry (matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry, MALDI-TOF-MS): To identify the molecular weight.
  • Other testing.

Activity Assay

  • Bradford assay: To determine the protein concentration of the extracts of the lectin.
  • Haemagglutination assay: To detect the haemagglutination activity.
