Description

This multi-component hybrid material features crystalline silver nanoparticles embedded within a gelatin protein hydrogel matrix that is enzymatically crosslinked using microbial transglutaminase (mTG). The mTG crosslinking fixes the protein strands via stable isopeptide bonds, establishing a highly robust, viscoelastic biopolymer network that physically locks the silver nanoparticles in place to prevent aggregation. This structural layout provides high water content and excellent steric protection while regulating silver ion release profiles through the crosslinked hydrogel meshes.
