This bio-inorganic hybrid material comprises a crystalline manganese monoxide (MnO) core encapsulated within a continuous face-centered cubic gold outer shell, surface-passivated with a monolayer of structurally intact protein molecules. The gold shell completely shields the inner oxide core from rapid fluid leaching, while the protein corona masks the outer surface energy and defines the baseline localized zeta potential.
